A striking collection of custom steampunk and industrial‑themed lamps is displayed on a wooden surface against a vintage world map backdrop. The arrangement features multiple upcycled mechanical components—such as an engine block, a rotary mechanism, and a precision metal unit—each converted into unique lamps with warm filament bulbs. These industrial pieces are complemented by polished brass oil lamps on either side, adding a classic Victorian feel.
Behind the lamps, illuminated coloured bottles in shades of purple, blue, and aqua create an atmospheric glow that enhances the eclectic, retro‑futuristic display. The combination of mechanical parts, brass details, exposed bulbs, and vibrant backlighting makes this setup ideal for showcasing handmade steampunk lighting, upcycled décor art, or bespoke industrial interior design pieces.

An antique writing slope is shown in heavily worn, unrestored condition. The wooden exterior displays significant surface damage, including deep scuffs, scratches, faded varnish, and areas where the finish has completely deteriorated. The central writing surface is heavily abraded, with the leather (or leather‑effect panel) cracked, discoloured, and partially peeling.
The upper section features a row of turned wooden finials connected by a metal rod, though the metalwork is tarnished and darkened from age. Two recessed compartments on the top surface appear dirty and worn, with visible grime around the edges. The front panel shows wear along the bottom lip and a keyhole that is surrounded by scratched, dull wood.
Set against a plain interior wall, the overall appearance highlights extensive age‑related deterioration, making the piece an ideal “before restoration” example for showcasing craftsmanship, transformation projects, or antique refurbishment portfolios.
The image shows an antique wooden writing slope in clearly deteriorated condition, placed on a countertop beneath several vintage wall signs. The wooden exterior exhibits extensive wear, including deep scratches, fading, and heavy surface cracking. The writing surface inset is severely damaged: the green leather panel is peeling, flaking, and missing large areas of material, exposing the bare underlying wood.
The wood across the front edge appears warped and rippled from age and moisture exposure, with noticeable lifting along the grain. The upper stationery compartment retains its original lock plate, though the surrounding wood shows scuffs, dents, and colour loss. The overall finish is patchy and uneven, revealing long-term neglect and requiring significant restoration work.
This image serves as an excellent example of a “before restoration” antique writing slope, showcasing the level of deterioration often encountered prior to refurbishment in restoration portfolios or woodworking
A beautifully restored antique writing slope is displayed on a wooden work surface, transformed from its previously worn and damaged state into a refined and visually striking piece. The wood has been fully refinished, revealing deep, rich grain patterns with a warm, polished sheen. The original structure has been revived with crisp lines and carefully repaired edges.
At the centre of the slope, the worn leather writing panel has been replaced with a striking decorative brass grille, adding a bold steampunk‑inspired industrial aesthetic while improving durability and airflow. The front section now features matching brass ventilation panels and upgraded decorative trim, enhancing both appearance and function.
The upper stationery compartment retains its traditional turned wooden finials, now refinished and mounted on a polished bar with subtle brass details. The surrounding workspace includes clocks and lamps
Antique Writing Slope With Steampunk Lighting Conversion):
A beautifully restored antique writing slope is displayed with a pair of striking steampunk‑inspired lamps mounted at the rear. The writing slope features warm, polished wood with a detailed leather writing surface inset into the top panel. Decorative brass corner brackets highlight the craftsmanship and add a sense of period character.
Behind the writing area, two tall Edison‑style filament bulbs are housed in industrial wire‑cage fixtures, casting a warm amber glow across the surface. The lamps are connected by a central turned‑wood crossbar, blending Victorian elegance with retro‑futuristic styling. Soft, directional lighting emphasizes the grain patterns and restored finish of the writing slope, making it ideal for showcasing handmade steampunk décor, upcycled antique furniture, or bespoke lighting creations.
A beautifully reinvented desk storage unit is presented on a wooden workspace, showcasing a complete transformation from its earlier worn condition into a refined, polished, and highly functional piece. The exterior wood has been fully restored, revealing a deep, rich grain with a smooth, satin finish that highlights the natural variations and warmth of the timber.
Across the top, a brass rail system with turned finials adds both structure and elegance, giving the piece a distinctive vintage‑industrial character. Centrally positioned is a brass pen holder filled with assorted pens, further emphasising the piece’s practical use as a desk organiser. The curved front panel has been expertly refinished and fitted with a polished brass keyplate, complementing the overall colour palette and elevating the sense of quality craftsmanship.

Unlike many inferior products, all cabling is carefully routed and double insulated. only the trailing cable to the socket can be seen and a high quality vintage style of cabling has been selected as part of the design process

The image shows a heavily worn and partially dismantled vintage single‑cylinder engine placed on a workbench. The engine block displays substantial corrosion, rust buildup, and long‑term grime, especially around the crankcase and mounting points. The cooling fins are oxidised and dirty, with visible wear along their edges.
A detached white plastic flywheel with pronounced fan blades is placed beside the engine, showing dirt and signs of use but in structurally intact condition. Wiring, linkages, and brackets attached to the engine appear aged, bent, or incomplete, suggesting previous mechanical failure or long‑term storage neglect.
The engine rests on a sheet of protective paper on a clean wooden bench, within a workshop setting that features timber‑panelled walls and organised tools. The overall condition highlights a classic “before restoration” mechanical project, ideal for showcasing engineering refurbishments, small‑engine rebuilds, or upcycling into industrial‑style art
A fully restored vintage single‑cylinder engine has been transformed into a striking steampunk‑inspired industrial lamp. The engine, once heavily rusted and deteriorated, now features a meticulously cleaned and refinished surface with darkened metal tones and polished highlights. Mounted securely on a solid wooden base, the engine’s mechanical components—including the cooling fins, carburettor housing, and flywheel—have been restored to a clean, functional‑looking condition.
Rising from the engine block are four tall vertical rods supporting a decorative bulb holder, fitted with flame‑shaped Edison‑style LED bulbs that emit a warm, ambient glow. This vertical lighting structure adds height and elegance while preserving the rugged mechanical aesthetic.
The entire piece sits against a vintage world‑map backdrop, which accentuates its retro‑futuristic character. The blend of polished metal, darkened engine components, and warm lighting

A retro‑futuristic, steampunk‑inspired energy device is mounted within a polished wooden and brass frame, strongly resembling the iconic Flux Capacitor from Back to the Future. The central chamber features three illuminated amber tubes arranged in a Y‑shaped configuration, connected by ornate brass fittings and exposed copper wiring. Engraved warning plates reading “DISCONNECT CAPACITOR DRIVE BEFORE OPENING” and “SHIELD EYES FROM LIGHT” add to the industrial sci‑fi aesthetic.
The warm internal glow, vintage gauge on the left, and hand‑finished metalwork evoke the look of a handcrafted alternate‑reality power source — ideal for showcasing steampunk props, themed décor, or fan‑made recreations inspired by the legendary time‑travel mechanism featured in the classic film trilogy
